A Bengaluru technology founder found unexpected humour in the hiring process after receiving a job application that seemed designed purely to entertain.
Paras Chopra, who leads the AI venture Lossfunk, recently opened recruitment for an executive assistant. Among the submissions, one application stood out for all the wrong and amusing reasons.
The applicant refused to provide straightforward information, stating even their name was ‘confidential hai’. When prompted to justify why they should be hired, the candidate countered with a challenge instead, questioning why not and criticising the question as unnecessary.
The role, requiring on-site presence in Bengaluru, prompted another quirky retort. When asked whether they were based in the city, the applicant responded with, “Itna personal kyun ho rahe ho?” suggesting the query was far too intrusive.
Attempts to gather links to social media profiles or examples of past work led only to more outlandish replies, making the application read more like a comedic script than a professional submission.
A Light-hearted Apology Ends the Application
In a final message, the candidate acknowledged the absurdity, apologising to the hiring panel while insisting the intention was simply to bring a moment of levity to their day.
They urged the team to ‘take a chill pill’ and remember that life need not always be serious.
Chopra shared a screenshot of the humorous responses on X, writing that the applicant had earned his respect for brightening his afternoon.
His post quickly attracted responses from users who found the exchange refreshingly relatable amid the often stressful world of recruitment.
Everstone, a private equity firm, purchased a majority stake in Chopra’s startup Wingify for approximately $200 million, reinforcing his prominence in India’s tech ecosystem.
With a 71% stake before the acquisition, he reportedly earned around $142 million from the deal. As he maintains a minority interest and holds other investments, his overall wealth is likely higher.
The light-hearted episode has since become a trending topic online, reminding many that even in high-pressure industries, a touch of humour can go a long way.
