A powerful explosion at the Vasundhara police outpost in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad late on Friday night left a 20-year-old food delivery worker injured and damaged parts of the police facility, officials said on Saturday.
The blast occurred at the police outpost, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Indirapuram police station, triggering panic among residents in the surrounding locality.
The intensity of the explosion shattered the windows and damaged the air conditioning units installed at the outpost. The sound was reportedly heard from a considerable distance.
According to officials, no police personnel were present inside the outpost when the explosion took place. However, a food delivery executive identified as Vishal sustained injuries after shattered glass struck him during the incident.
Vishal, a 20-year-old resident of Arthala in Ghaziabad, was reportedly delivering an order when the explosion occurred.
He was subsequently taken to a private hospital in Surya Nagar, Delhi, where he is undergoing treatment.
Following information about the blast, police personnel and officials from various investigative agencies rushed to the spot.
Given the seriousness of the incident, a forensic team from Ghaziabad and a bomb disposal squad were also called in to examine the site and collect evidence.
Police officials, along with specialist teams, have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the explosion. Investigators are examining all possible angles to establish what triggered the blast.
However, the exact cause of the explosion remains unclear. Police said the actual reason would be established only after a detailed forensic examination and analysis of the evidence collected from the scene.
The investigation is currently underway, and further details are awaited.
