India, Qatar Strengthen Ties
Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani established the Qatar Leadership Centre in 2008.
The centre trains individuals with strong administrative and leadership potential from the public and private sectors.
Its mission is to nurture capable leaders through comprehensive programs in governance, innovation, and management.
The visit underscores the deepening partnership between India and Qatar, which share strong historical, economic, and cultural ties.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1973, and in 2023, they celebrated 50 years of bilateral engagement.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs, Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed, in Doha in October.
They discussed ways to enhance bilateral economic cooperation. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to expand trade and investment ties between India and Qatar.
India and Qatar’s cooperation spans diverse sectors, including energy, trade, investments, and people-to-people exchanges.
Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s State Visit to India in February 2024 elevated the relationship to a Strategic Partnership.
The visit reinforced both nations’ commitment to long-term collaboration and regional stability.
