Lalu–Rabri’s Rule Was A Reign Of Terror And Lawlessness: Amit Shah

At rallies in Bihar, Amit Shah blamed the Lalu–Rabri era for lawlessness, praised Nitish Kumar’s governance, vowed to revive sugar mills, attacked dynastic politics, and urged voters to reject a return to ‘Jungle Raj’.

On Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah delivered a fierce criticism of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife, Rabri Devi, holding their 15-year rule responsible for widespread lawlessness that crippled Bihar’s industries and led to the shutdown of sugar mills.

Addressing a public rally in Riga block of Sitamarhi, Shah alleged that extortion and fear during the previous regime drove industrial units to closure, stalled the Barauni refinery, and delayed power projects.

He further asserted Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s governance had replaced disorder with stability, setting Bihar on a path of development.

“During Lalu and Rabri’s rule, there was a reign of terror and lawlessness in Bihar. Our sugar mill shut down due to extortion. Nitish Kumar has ended the reign of terror and opened the doors to development,” Shah told the crowd.

Promise to Revive Sugar Mills

Reaffirming a promise he made earlier, the Home Minister said the Central Cooperative Department would help revive all closed sugar mills in Bihar, beginning with the recently reopened Riga unit, to improve the livelihoods of sugarcane farmers.

Shah also highlighted improved security in regions once affected by Maoism, saying that for the first time, voting across Bihar would continue peacefully until 5 PM.

Turning to political rivals, he accused Lalu Prasad Yadav and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi of promoting dynastic ambitions, claiming they wish to see Tejashwi Yadav as Bihar’s Chief Minister and Rahul Gandhi as India’s Prime Minister.

“Let me tell you today that neither Lalu’s son will become the Chief Minister nor will Sonia’s son become the Prime Minister of the country,” Shah asserted. “Because Nitish Kumar is in Bihar and Narendra Modi is in the country.”

“Narendra Modi has taken the pledge for a developed India, and Nitish Kumar has taken the pledge for a developed Bihar. Without a developed Bihar, India cannot become developed. If you want to make Bihar developed, then ensure a resounding victory for the NDA,” he further asserted.

Criticising Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Save the Infiltrators’ Yatra, Shah alleged that infiltrators were depriving locals of jobs and welfare benefits, vowing to identify and expel them from Bihar and the country.

Temple Project at Punoura Dham

After his address in Sitamarhi, Shah held another rally in Madhubani, where he announced that work had begun on a grand temple dedicated to Goddess Sita at Punoura Dham, costing around Rs 850 crore.

He further noted that the shrine, alongside the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, would stand as a symbol of progress for both Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

Recalling Prime Minister Modi’s response to the Pahalgam attack, he remarked, “In Madhubani, PM Modi had promised that those who killed our tourists in Pahalgam after asking their religion would be avenged. Within just 20 days, PM Modi launched Operation Sindoor. Our Army entered Pakistan, went inside the terrorists’ homes and eliminated them.”

Shah urged voters to stop the return of what he called ‘Jungle Raj’, accusing the RJD regime of fostering crime, extortion, and fear.

He said the Modi–Nitish ‘double engine government’ had replaced it with growth and development.

Shah further accused Lalu Prasad Yadav of neglecting Mithila’s heritage, noting that under the Modi government, the Maithili language was added to the Eighth Schedule, the Constitution is being translated into Maithili, Madhubani art received a GI tag, and Padma Vibhushan recipient Sharda Sinha was honoured for her contribution to culture.
