Adani And Google Join Forces To Build India’s Largest AI Data Hub In Visakhapatnam

AdaniConneX, a joint venture of Adani Enterprises, has partnered with Google to build India’s largest AI and green energy data centre in Visakhapatnam.

Adani Enterprises, through its joint venture AdaniConneX, has announced a major partnership with Google to establish India’s largest artificial intelligence (AI) data centre campus and green energy infrastructure in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

The agreement unveiled on Tuesday, marking a pivotal moment in the nation’s digital transformation.

The upcoming Google AI hub represents a wide-ranging investment of roughly $15 billion to be deployed over five years, from 2026 to 2030.

The initiative includes large-scale data centre facilities powered by renewable energy, underpinned by a high-capacity subsea cable system.

These efforts aim to support India’s rapidly expanding demand for AI computing power.

According to Google, it will develop the project alongside ecosystem partners such as AdaniConneX and Airtel.

At the heart of the partnership lies a purpose-built AI data infrastructure designed in collaboration with AdaniConneX.

This advanced facility in Visakhapatnam will significantly expand computing capacity and serve as a cornerstone for India’s next major leap in AI innovation, the companies said in a joint statement.

The collaboration also reflects a shared dedication to sustainability.

Both firms will co-invest in renewable energy generation, new transmission lines, and modern energy storage systems in Andhra Pradesh. These developments will not only power the data centre but also bolster India’s overall energy resilience and grid capacity, the statement added.

Leaders Highlight Vision for India’s Digital Future

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, described the venture as a defining moment for India’s digital journey.

“The Adani Group is proud to partner with Google on this historic project that will define the future of India’s digital landscape,” he stated. “This is more than just an investment in infrastructure. It is an investment in the soul of a rising nation. This partnership is a testament to our shared vision of nation-building and our commitment to empowering every Indian with the tools of the 21st century. Visakhapatnam is now set to become a global destination for technology, and we are thrilled to be the architects of this monumental journey.”

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian emphasised the strategic importance of the initiative.

“To unlock India’s massive potential in the AI age, we are investing in the Google AI hub, which will provide the critical foundation to drive growth and enable businesses, researchers, and creators to build and scale with AI,” Kurian asserted. “Working with Adani, we will bring our cutting-edge resources closer to communities and customers alike, and offer them the performance, security, and scalability to innovate and thrive on a global stage.”

According to the companies, the AI hub and its connectivity gateway will act as a catalyst for economic growth, fostering digital inclusion and generating tens of thousands of jobs in technology, construction, and clean energy sectors—first in Visakhapatnam, and eventually across the country.
