
Hon’ble Chief Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai arrived in Mauritius with his family for a three-day official visit.
The visit commenced with participation in the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute (MGI), a joint initiative between India and Mauritius promoting Indian culture.
The Chief Justice paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, highlighting the shared values and cultural heritage binding the two nations.
Meetings with Mauritius Leadership
During the visit, Hon’ble Chief Justice Gavai called on HE Mr Dharambeer Gokhool, President of Mauritius, where discussions focused on the multifaceted India-Mauritius partnership, including long-standing judicial cooperation and strong educational ties.
He also met Dr the Hon Navinchandra Ramgoolam, Prime Minister of Mauritius, to explore the vibrant cultural and people-to-people connections underpinning India-Mauritius relations.
PM Ramgoolam recalled his recent successful state visit to India and emphasised the enduring friendship between the two countries.
Later, Hon’ble Chief Justice met Hon Paul Raymond Berenger, Deputy Prime Minister, where discussions centred on the historical and cultural bonds between India and Mauritius, reinforcing the importance of ongoing collaboration in the judicial and educational sectors.
Official Dinner Hosted in His Honour
In the evening, Hon’ble Chief Justice of Mauritius hosted an official dinner in honour of CJI Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai.
The event offered an opportunity to strengthen professional and personal ties between senior members of the judiciary and government, celebrating the longstanding friendship and cooperation between India and Mauritius.
Throughout the visit, Hon’ble Chief Justice Gavai highlighted the warm and enduring people-to-people bonds that continue to drive bilateral cooperation.
His engagements reinforced the strategic and multidimensional relations between India and Mauritius, particularly in judicial collaboration, educational initiatives, and cultural exchange.
