The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday carried out searches at 22 locations across five states and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The early morning raids were conducted in Bihar, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, in addition to several areas in J&K.

Officials said that searches were specifically undertaken in Budgam, Kulgam, Pattan, Pulwama, and Kangan in the Kashmir Valley. The operations were conducted with the support of local police and the CRPF.

The operation is linked to an ongoing terror funding case under investigation by the agency.

According to officials, the NIA is probing a number of high-profile terror cases involving both financing networks and targeted civilian killings.

One such case is the 9 June 2024 attack in the Reasi district of Jammu, where terrorists killed nine pilgrims and injured several others.

The NIA has already arrested individuals accused of harbouring those responsible.

The agency is also investigating the 22 April 2024 massacre in Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadow. Pakistan-backed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists carried out the attack. They killed 26 people, including 25 tourists and a local pony owner.

On 28 July 2025, joint forces launched an operation in the upper reaches of Dachigam National Park near Harwan, Srinagar. They killed three Pakistani terrorists identified as Suleman, Jibran, and Hamza Afghani.

The Army named the mission ‘Operation Mahadev’ after the slain militants were confirmed to be behind the Pahalgam attack.

Officials later revealed that the trio had been identified. They were tracked by security forces. The identification was aided by photographs recovered from a mobile phone seized during a 2024 encounter in south Kashmir.
