The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check unit has alerted citizens about fraudulent emails claiming to offer downloads of e-PAN cards.
Officials confirmed that the emails are fake and warned people not to share sensitive details in response.
In a post on X, PIB Fact Check posted, “Have you also received an email asking you to download e-PAN Card? #PIBFactCheck This Email is #Fake Do not respond to any emails, links, calls & SMS asking you to share financial & sensitive information.”

The government urged people to remain cautious while handling suspicious emails. It asked users not to click on unknown links or share personal and financial details with unknown sources.
PIB Fact Check also directed citizens to official channels for reporting phishing emails. It emphasised that genuine services for e-PAN cards are only available through authorised portals.
Authorities said cybercriminals often target individuals through fake e-PAN card offers to steal personal data.
Citizens were advised to stay vigilant and verify any communication claiming to provide financial documents.
The advisory added that awareness and caution are the first steps to preventing online fraud. Officials stressed that reporting such phishing attempts helps in curbing digital scams.
