Trump-Putin Summit

Earlier in the day, Trump announced that he will be meeting his Russian counterpart on August 15 in Alaska to discuss ending Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Announcing the summit, the US President said that Putin has a 30-day deadline to agree to a ceasefire and a roadmap for peace. He also threatened ‘severe consequences that no one wants to see’ if both parties failed to reach a settlement.

Donald Trump stated the Alaska delibration could involve ‘some swapping of the territories’ for the benefit of both Russia and Ukraine.

On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky cautioned that any negotiation excluding Kyiv would lead to a ‘dead solution’ and that ‘Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupier’.
