Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly criticised the Congress party during a fiery address in the Lok Sabha, accusing it of siding with Pakistan’s narrative and failing to support India’s fight against terrorism in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor.
He said that while the world stood by India, the Congress party chose to distance itself from the armed forces and national sentiment.
PM Modi refuted Congress’s allegations of diplomatic failure, asserting that India received overwhelming international support following the retaliatory military strike against Pakistan.
“Out of 193 countries, only three supported Pakistan in any way. All major global organisations, including BRICS, backed India’s war on terror,” PM told the House.
Congress Refused to Support Armed Forces: PM Modi
PM Modi took aim at Congress for not standing with India’s armed forces, despite receiving support from the global community and the Indian public.
“We got the support of our citizens and support from the world. But unfortunately, the Congress party did not support our armed forces,” he said.
The Prime Minister accused Congress of trying to exploit the Pahalgam terror attack for political gain, alleging that the party was eager to target him and the government rather than condemn terrorism.
“They tried to score political points by exploiting the deaths of innocent civilians. In doing so, they demoralised our forces and diminished their sacrifices,” the Prime Minister stated.
PM Modi cautioned Parliament about the misuse of technology and narrative-building to mislead the public and weaken military morale.
“In modern warfare, information is power. Technology can be used to spread misinformation and manipulate national opinion. This must stop,” he warned.
Congress Accused of Borrowing Narratives from Abroad
Doubling down on his criticism, PM Modi accused Congress of lacking vision and relying on foreign-inspired agendas.
“Today, Congress has no issues of its own. It draws its agenda from outside the country,” he said.
PM Modi also criticised Congress for frequently demanding proof of India’s surgical strikes, claiming it only accepted the strikes later to avoid public backlash.
“They demanded proof, and then—fearing public reaction—claimed such strikes happened during their rule too,” he noted.
“It’s good they didn’t ask for credit for Operation Sindoor, because such air strikes never happened during their time,” he added.
Congress Habitually Discredits Armed Forces: PM Modi
PM Modi concluded his remarks by accusing Congress of maintaining a long-standing pattern of undermining the armed forces.
“Congress always looks for faults in the actions of our soldiers. Their negativity toward the military is nothing new,” he said.
PM Modi’s remarks added to the escalating political tension in Parliament, as Operation Sindoor continues to dominate the national security debate. Senior opposition leaders are expected to respond in the upcoming sessions.
