Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his highly anticipated visit to the United Kingdom on Thursday, describing it as a ‘landmark’ moment for India-UK ties.

During the two-day tour from 23 to 24 July, PM Modi held high-level discussions, participated in strategic agreements, and met with UK leaders, including King Charles III and Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The highlight of the visit was the signing of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
India and the UK will boost bilateral trade, attract investment, and generate employment in both countries through this historic deal.
The agreement will also be accompanied by a Double Contribution Convention, aimed at easing business conditions for professionals and service industries in both nations.
Meeting with King Charles III
PM Modi met King Charles III at Sandringham House, where they discussed matters ranging from sustainable living and climate protection to India-UK cultural ties.
The Prime Minister presented the King with a sapling as part of his green initiative, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam (A Tree for Mother). King Charles’ support for the campaign was praised as an inspiration for global environmental action.
PM Modi also expressed joy at the monarch’s recovery and return to royal duties, and extended an invitation for a future State Visit to India.
The two leaders shared mutual interests in Ayurveda, Yoga, and sustainable development, strengthening the human and cultural aspects of bilateral relations.
Meeting with PM Keir Starmer
At Chequers, the UK Prime Minister’s official country residence, PM Modi and PM Starmer reviewed the full spectrum of India-UK relations.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the India-UK Vision 2035, a roadmap to deepen cooperation across sectors, including education, healthcare, climate action, and innovation.
Following the successful UK leg, PM Modi departed for the Maldives, where he will participate in the 60th Independence Day celebrations as the Guest of Honour.
His visit also coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and the Maldives. The Prime Minister’s visit is expected to reinforce strategic ties and people-to-people linkages in the Indian Ocean region.

PM Modi’s UK visit has laid a strong foundation for future cooperation with Britain while signalling India’s growing global role through diplomacy, economic strategy, and cultural engagement.
