India strongly responded to the Pakistan Army’s accusation, firmly denying any involvement in the 28 June terrorist attack in Waziristan that killed 16 Pakistani soldiers.
In a statement released by the office of Field Marshal Asif Munir, Pakistan claimed that Indian agencies were complicit in the assault—an assertion India has firmly rejected.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs stated, “We have seen the official statement by the Pakistan Army seeking to blame India for the attack in Waziristan on 28 June. We reject this statement with the contempt it deserves.”
India described the accusation as completely baseless and politically motivated, asserting that it is part of a broader attempt by Pakistan to deflect attention from its own escalating internal instability.
The official statement added, “These repeated attempts to externalise domestic security failures show Pakistan’s unwillingness to address the real causes of unrest within its borders, particularly in regions like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
Waziristan: A region in turmoil
The Waziristan region in north-western Pakistan continues to grapple with a persistent insurgency, largely driven by militant groups such as the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The 28 June attack is among the deadliest in recent months and has further exposed the frailty of Pakistan’s security apparatus in its tribal belt.
Despite repeated military operations in the area, the Pakistani state has struggled to restore lasting peace.
Security experts believe that internal mismanagement and the lack of genuine political engagement with local populations are worsening the crisis.
Senior Indian officials have reiterated that India has no role in Pakistan’s domestic turmoil and has consistently advocated for peace in the region.
“India remains committed to regional stability,” said a government spokesperson, “but we cannot remain silent when such unfounded and provocative statements are issued with clear intent to malign.”
India’s response also stressed that diverting blame does little to improve regional trust or enable constructive diplomacy.
Observers noted that such accusations could derail efforts at dialogue and further strain India-Pakistan relations.
While both nations exchanged stern statements, diplomatic channels remain open.
International analysts have called for restraint and greater transparency in investigations to avoid miscommunication or escalation, especially along sensitive borders such as the Line of Control.
India has urged Pakistan to take accountability for its internal challenges and focus on securing peace within its own territory rather than making inflammatory and unsubstantiated claims.
