A high-level Indian parliamentary delegation led by Shiv Sena MP Dr Shrikant Eknath Shinde concluded a significant diplomatic visit to Sierra Leone, aimed at strengthening international resolve against terrorism.
The delegation’s visit formed part of India’s global outreach to highlight the impact of the Pahalgam terror attack and reaffirm its zero-tolerance approach to cross-border terrorism under the ‘Operation Sindoor’ campaign.
During their meeting in Freetown, Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, strongly condemned the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives.

He expressed condolences and reaffirmed his country’s solidarity with India.
“We stand with India in its fight against terrorism,” he told the delegation, according to a statement by the High Commission of India in Sierra Leone.
Pushing For Global Action
The delegation urged coordinated efforts at global forums such as the United Nations Security Council and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to combat terrorism effectively.
Meetings with Sierra Leonean leaders, including the Speaker of Parliament, the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Defence Minister, and the Acting Foreign Minister, provided a platform for constructive dialogue on international security cooperation.

Deputy Defence Minister Muana Brima Massaquoi warned of the growing threat terrorism poses to Africa if left unchecked.
“African nations must unite now. Inaction risks allowing terrorism to creep onto our shores,” he cautioned.
The Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Daniel Brima Koroma, also voiced strong support for India’s position, calling for regional vigilance.
The Indian delegation also engaged with local journalists and foreign diplomats, highlighting India’s policy stance and promoting international collaboration against terror networks.

BJD MP Sasmit Patra, in a television interview, sharply criticised Pakistan for using terrorism as a state tool, calling for peace-oriented diplomacy.
In a powerful symbolic gesture, Sierra Leone’s Parliament observed a minute of silence in honour of the Pahalgam victims, an act that deeply moved the Indian delegation.
The MPs thanked the Speaker and members of Parliament for their solidarity and support.
The delegation included Bansuri Swaraj, Atul Garg, Manan Kumar Mishra, Sasmit Patra, ETMohammed Basheer, SS Ahluwalia, and Sujan Chinoy.
Their visit forms part of India’s global diplomatic mission to expose Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and consolidate international backing.
By engaging nations like Sierra Leone, India continues to expand its anti-terror coalition and promote a united international response to terror threats.
