PM Narendra Modi emphasised the need to build future-ready cities and accelerate development across India during his opening remarks at the 10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog, held on Saturday at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
PM Modi Highlights Urban Innovation And Sustainability
Highlighting India’s rapid urbanisation, PM Modi urged both the Centre and state governments to jointly work towards building cities driven by innovation, growth, and sustainability.
“India is getting rapidly urbanised. We should work towards future-ready cities. Growth, innovation, and sustainability should be the engine for the development of our cities,” he said.
Team India’s Approach To Development
Calling for a collaborative approach, the Prime Minister stressed that accelerating development is only possible through Centre-State synergy.
“We have to increase the speed of development. If the Centre and all the States come together and work together like Team India, no goal is impossible,” the PM asserted.
Moreover, PM Modi urged each state to develop at least one world-class tourist destination. He said this would not only boost tourism but also catalyse the development of nearby cities.
“States should develop at least one tourist destination per state, at par with global standards and by providing all facilities and infrastructure. One State: One Global Destination,” the Prime Minister suggested.
PM Modi Reiterates For Developed States, Developed India
Reiterating that the aspiration of 140 crore citizens is to live in a developed nation, PM Modi said, “Every state must be Viksit; then Bharat will be Viksit.”
The Prime Minister also called for the respectful inclusion of more women in the workforce, urging governments to frame laws and policies that promote gender inclusion.
“We must work towards the inclusion of women in our workforce. We must make laws, and policies so that they can be respectfully integrated in the workforce,” PM Modi stated.
Vision For Viksit Bharat@2047
The theme of the meeting, ‘Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat@2047’, underscores the role of states as key drivers in building a developed India. The forum facilitates discussions between the Centre and States/UTs on advancing this vision.
The council also aims to deliberate on fostering entrepreneurship, enhancing skills development, and creating sustainable employment opportunities across the nation.
The meeting stands as a significant milestone in India’s long-term vision to transform into a fully developed nation by 2047, marking 100 years of independence.
