Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several political leaders paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary today. The day marks the assassination of Gandhi on January 30, 1948, and is observed as Martyrs’ Day or ‘Shaheed Diwas.’
In a post on X, PM Modi honored the ‘Father of the Nation’ and highlighted his ideals of truth and non-violence. He also paid tribute to all those who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom.
“Tributes to Pujya Bapu on his Punya Tithi. His ideals motivate us to build a developed India,” Modi wrote. “I also pay tributes to all those martyred for our nation.”

BJP President JP Nadda also remembered Gandhi’s philosophy of self-reliance. “Bapu’s ideas of Swadeshi and self-reliance continue to pave the way for Atmanirbhar Bharat,” Nadda said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized Gandhi’s role in uniting the nation and his global impact. “Gandhi popularized Indian values of truth, non-violence, and the fight against injustice across the world,” Shah said.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju recalled Gandhi’s contribution to the freedom struggle, calling him a “worshiper of truth, non-violence, and harmony.”
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also paid tribute. “Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings on peace and unity guide the path to world peace,” he said, urging the nation to uphold Gandhi’s principles.
