On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commemorated the 127th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, describing him as a symbol of courage and determination whose life inspires the youth of India.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Today, on Parakram Diwas, I pay homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. His contribution to India’s freedom movement is unparalleled. He epitomised courage and grit. His vision continues to motivate us as we work towards building the India he envisioned.”

The Prime Minister also released a video message, highlighting Netaji’s selfless dedication to the nation.
In the message, he remarked, “”Netaji’s life was a culmination of hard work and valour. He gave up his personal dreams and interests for India’s independence. If he wanted, he could have lived a comfortable life, but he chose to sacrifice it for the resolution of a free India.”
Emphasizing Netaji’s role in showcasing India’s heritage, PM Modi added, “Netaji was among the great leaders who not only opposed foreign forces but also firmly countered those who questioned India’s heritage. It was he who presented India as the ‘Mother of Democracy’ to the world. His life and contributions continue to inspire Indian youth.”
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose
Born on 23 January 1897, in Cuttack, Odisha, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is remembered as a towering patriot.
Recognizing his immense contributions, the Government of India declared his birthday as ‘Parakram Diwas’ in 2021 to honor his legacy and inspire citizens to emulate his bravery.
The inaugural Parakram Diwas was held at the Victoria Memorial Hall in Kolkata. In 2022, a holographic statue of Netaji unveiled at India Gate, and plans for a National Memorial on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep are underway.
Netaji’s life reflects unwavering commitment and sacrifice.
He attended Presidency College in Kolkata for his early education, but the college expelled him in 1916 for his nationalist activities.
After graduating from Scottish Church College, he studied at the University of Cambridge for the Indian Civil Service.
Despite succeeding in the exams in 1920, he renounced the career in 1921 to join India’s freedom struggle.
Netaji remains a symbol of visionary leadership, equality, and relentless patriotism, continuing to inspire generations of Indians.
