Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a series of major projects worth Rs 2.08 lakh crore in Andhra Pradesh, including the country’s largest green hydrogen hub, the South Coastal Railway zonal headquarters, and an industrial node in Krishnapatnam. The projects, spanning multiple sectors such as energy, railways, infrastructure, and pharmaceuticals, are expected to significantly boost the state’s economy and create thousands of jobs.

At a large public gathering held at AU Engineer College Ground, Prime Minister Modi virtually inaugurated, laid foundation stones, and dedicated several projects to the nation. The event, attended by Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, marked a significant milestone for the state. Various projects were unveiled, spanning critical sectors including energy, transportation, and industrial development.

Green Hydrogen Hub To Power Andhra Pradesh’s Future

One of the most notable projects launched by the Prime Minister is the green hydrogen hub at Pudimadaka, in Atchutapuram mandal of Anakapalle district. Developed by NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) at a cost of Rs 1.85 lakh crore, this ambitious initiative will cover 1,600 acres and is expected to turn Andhra Pradesh into a green energy powerhouse. It aims to make India a global leader in green hydrogen production.

Part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, the project will harness 20,000 MW of renewable energy capacity to produce 1,500 tonnes of green hydrogen per day. Additionally, it will generate 7,500 tonnes of green hydrogen derivatives, including green methanol, green urea, and sustainable aviation fuel, primarily for export markets. This initiative is expected to create 57,000 jobs in the region, contributing significantly to the local and national economy.

Railway Projects To Enhance Connectivity And Infrastructure

Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation for several railway projects totaling over Rs 6,000 crore. These include the construction of the South Coastal Railway Zonal Headquarters in Visakhapatnam, which will cost Rs 149 crore. This new railway zone, long demanded by the state under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of 2014, is expected to enhance the state’s rail connectivity.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister dedicated Rs 5,700 crore worth of railway projects to the nation. These projects include the doubling of five railway lines, covering 323 kilometers across the state, further improving transportation and connectivity.

Krishnapatnam And Bulk Drug Park To Drive Industrial Growth

Another key project is the foundation stone for the Krishnapatnam Industrial Area (KRIS City), set to be developed in Tirupati district at a cost of Rs 2,139 crore. Located under the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, KRIS City is expected to attract investments of Rs 10,500 crore and generate around one lakh direct and indirect jobs.

Additionally, a Bulk Drug Park will be established near Nakkapalli in Anakapalle district at a cost of Rs 1,877 crore. The park, strategically positioned near the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor and the Visakhapatnam-Kakinada Petrochemical and Investment Region, promises to spur industrial growth and create thousands of employment opportunities in the region.

As part of the infrastructure push, the Prime Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation for 17 road projects worth over Rs 7,500 crore. These projects are designed to improve road connectivity across the state, supporting the movement of goods and people, and facilitating further economic development.

Prime Minister’s First Visit To Andhra Pradesh After NDA Government Formation

This event marked Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to Andhra Pradesh after the TDP-led NDA government took office in the state. Before attending the public meeting, the Prime Minister conducted a roadshow alongside Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, showcasing his strong engagement with the people and leadership in the state.

With these major projects, Andhra Pradesh is poised to see transformative growth across multiple sectors, setting the stage for significant economic progress in the coming years.
