The Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) School in South Extension Part 2, Central Zone, hosted a grand Christmas Winter Carnival on December 23, 2024. The colourful festivities, fun-filled activities, and a spirit of community involvement marked the event, bringing together students, teachers, and several prominent dignitaries.
Delhi Municipal Corporation Organises Winter Carnival
The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Dr. Olga Gauci, wife of Mr. H.E. Reuben Gauci, High Commissioner of Malta. Amit Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Education, and Mrs. Enka Verma, Trustee of the Shrikant Verma Trust, also attended the carnival. Other notable figures included Mr Subhash Manav, Director of Gramalaya, Mr Harshit Gupta, Founder of Womanite, Additional Commissioner of Delhi Municipal Corporation, and Deputy Director of Education Central Zone, who also attended the event.
During the celebration, Students played a central role in the success of the carnival, organizing a variety of stalls featuring fun games, arts and crafts, and engaging activities. A lively cultural performance included young children dancing to Christmas carols, adding to the festive atmosphere.
One of the highlights of the event was a unique game that focused on separating wet and dry waste. Students used Virtual Reality (VR) technology to learn about the importance of waste segregation, and they eagerly engaged in the activity, sparking lively discussions on environmental responsibility.
Generosity And Community Support
During the event, Mrs Enka Verma, Trustee of the Shrikant Verma Trust, made a generous donation of ₹11,000 for the benefit of the school students. In addition, all the dignitaries took part in distributing chocolates and gifts to the students, spreading joy and goodwill among the young participants.
After the carnival, Principal Mrs. Neelam Kujur expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the dignitaries, and community members for their active participation in making the event a success. She thanked everyone for contributing to the school’s vibrant community spirit and for making the Christmas Winter Carnival a memorable occasion.
The event not only offered a day of celebration but also emphasized the importance of community, learning, and environmental consciousness, making it a perfect end-of-year activity for the school.
