CM Nitish Kumar

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has begun ‘Pragati Yatra’ from Valmikinagar in Bihar’s West Champaran on Monday. This Yatra marks a significant development drive in the state.

The Chief Minister, accompanied by Cabinet Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and other party leaders was warmly welcomed by the local officials upon their arrival. Nitish Kumar will be laying the foundation stone for various development projects amounting to Rs 700 crores during his Yatra, reported.

Bihar Government’s Development

With this, the Bihar government will do the electrification of remote villages that come under the jurisdiction of Valmikinagar Tiger Reserve (VTR) in Bagaha. This comes under the Energy Department’s on-grid electricity scheme and focuses on providing on-grid electricity to 22 villages within the dense forests of VTR.

An investment of Rs 139 crore has been allocated to the project. About 70.000 people have remained out of electricity since Independence. With this development, this project introduces underground cabling for power supply, which will be the first for Bihar. This underground cable facility will traverse the dense forests of VTR, ensuring a smooth and sustainable electricity supply to remote areas.

Moreover, this electrification project will take around 18 months to complete and will bring a transformation in the lives of the inhabitants of the villages. This introduction of underground electricity cabling reflects a forward-thinking approach to infrastructure development in ecologically sensitive regions.
