In preparation for the Maha Kumbh 2025, the Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (Urban) has launched an extensive plan to ensure uninterrupted water supply throughout the 25 sectors of the fairground.
Under the directive of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the department is working on installing 15 new tube wells while simultaneously repairing 70 existing ones, including the comprehensive overhaul of 15 tube wells.
To guarantee steady water pressure and flow during power outages, the team is setting up 30 generators and stabilizers.
Amit Raj, Executive Engineer stated “The work is progressing swiftly, with a budget allocation of ₹11 crore. This includes laying an extensive pipeline network to connect pumping stations across all sectors.”
The Maha Kumbh Mela, which spans 45 days, will see a 24/7 water supply system catering to the needs of Kalpvasis, saints, Akharas, and administrative camps.
The UP Jal Nigam (Urban), Prayagraj, has tasked with completing the project by 30 November, ensuring readiness well ahead of the grand event.
“We are committed to delivering a seamless and uninterrupted water supply, in line with the Chief Minister’s vision for a smooth and spiritually enriching Maha Kumbh experience,” Raj added.
This infrastructure upgrade is a critical component of the state’s larger efforts to make Maha Kumbh 2025 a world-class event, drawing millions of devotees and visitors to Prayagraj.
