Worli Hit-And-Run

The Worli police have submitted a detailed charge sheet in the BMW hit-and-run case that resulted in the tragic death of Kaveri Nakhwa, a 45-year-old woman.

Additionallt, the police have named Mihir Shah, the 25-year-old son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah, as the primary accused in the incident that occurred on July 7 near Atria Mall.

The charge sheet, spanning 716 pages, also identifies Rajesh Shah and the driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, as co-accused.

It cites circumstantial evidence indicating that Mihir Shah was driving under the influence of alcohol during the collision.

Despite the subsequent medical report showing no traces of alcohol due to his arrest occurring two days post-incident the police have invoked Section 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act, which penalizes drunk driving, based on circumstantial findings.

The police have gathered statements from 38 witnesses so far, and they have recently located a key eyewitness, a taxi driver whose testimony will soon recorded before a Metropolitan Magistrate.

The tragic incident unfolded when Mihir Shah’s BMW struck the two-wheeler carrying Kaveri and her husband, Pradeep Nakhwa.

While Pradeep sustained only minor injuries, Kaveri tragically dragged for nearly three kilometers after the collision, as Bidawat failed to halt the vehicle.

In response to the incident, the police have revoked the driving licenses of both Mihir Shah and Rajrishi Bidawat.

Although Rajesh Shah has been granted bail, both Mihir Shah and his driver remain in judicial custody as the investigation continues.

The case has attracted significant media attention, raising questions about accountability and road safety in Mumbai.

As the investigation progresses, the police remain focused on ensuring justice for Kaveri Nakhwa and her grieving family.
