The Uttar Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is likely to promote cleanliness across the state with a comprehensive ‘Cleanliness Fortnight’ running from 1 to 15 September.
The initiative aims to solidify the state’s reputation as a model for cleanliness and hygiene. The fortnight will see active participation from students, teachers, and community members.
Activities will commence on 1 September with a ‘Swachhata Pledge’ ceremony, where participants will take an oath to uphold cleanliness standards.
This will be followed by a series of planned programs and activities in schools and communities.
The Basic Education Department has finalized preparations and issued detailed instructions to Basic Education Officers statewide.
Schools will host various events, including a School Management Committee meeting in the first week, focusing on cleanliness education.
Parents and teachers will be engaged in discussions about the importance of hygiene, handwashing, mask usage, and social distancing.
During the fortnight, officials will assess schools on their cleanliness and the quality of drinking water facilities.
Teachers will be responsible for assessing and planning necessary repairs and improvements.
Organizers will hold several competitions to encourage student participation, including contests on clean premises and toilets, as well as essay writing, slogan creation, poetry, painting, speeches, quizzes, and model-making focused on cleanliness and hygiene.
