25 Killed, 30 Injured In RSF Artillery Attack In El Fasher, Sudan

The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) artillery attack in El Fasher, North Darfur State, has resulted in 25 deaths and 30 injuries, according to local officials.

Ibrahim Khatir, the health chief of North Darfur State, reported that the RSF targeted the Abu Shouk camp market with four artillery shells on Monday. The attack left 25 people dead and about 30 others injured. The injured were transported to health centers in Abu Shouk, the Saudi Hospital, and the army’s Medical Corps hospital for treatment.

Additionally, the resistance committee in El Fasher, a non-governmental group, reported that the RSF artillery attack included the bombarded on the private Sub-Saharan College in El Fasher on Monday. The attack destroyed the college’s main hall, laboratory, morgue, and other buildings. The RSF has not yet issued any statement regarding these incidents.

The violence in El Fasher is part of ongoing clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the RSF that began on May 10. The conflict has been ongoing since April 15, 2023, and has led to at least 16,650 deaths.

Additionally, the humanitarian crisis continues to escalate. According to the latest UN data, the number of internally displace is approximately 10.7 million within Sudan, and around 2.2 million others have fled to neighboring countries.

The situation remains critical as the conflict disrupts daily life and exacerbates the humanitarian crisis in the region.
