Almost 25 million people, or half of Sudan's population, require humanitarian assistance, and 8 million have fled their homes

The most recent in a string of tragedies in Darfur was the attack that took place earlier this month on Ardamata in the region of West Darfur.

According to rights organizations and the UN, the conflict in western Darfur, which was the scene of a genocidal campaign in the early 2000s, has changed into ethnic violence, with the RSF and its allied Arab militias assaulting ethnic African populations.
