Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani stated that achieving de-escalation in the Middle East hinges on stopping aggression in Gaza and preventing its spread into Lebanon.

In a phone conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday, al-Sudani emphasized these points, according to a statement from his media office. The discussion also covered recent regional and international developments and explored ways to avert further escalation in the area.

Al-Sudani called for measures to deter Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government from attacking other regional countries, criticizing their ongoing violations of international law and sovereignty.
