Representing the Union Government on zero in Wayanad, Minister George Kurien has reached to the relief camps and other landslide hit area in Kerala.
Extending all possible help from central government Minister George Kurien met affected people and the families who lost their dear ones to landslide. conveying central government’s message he expressed deep condolence to the people on ground zero.
Minister, with NDRF team examined the situation and inspected the rescue operation taking place in calamity struck area.
Notably, Rescue teams are working around the clock in Kerala’s Wayanad after massive landslides struck the region, with the death toll climbing to 179 by Wednesday. Teams are frantically searching for people still missing.
Authorities have restricted travel to Wayanad to reduce congestion on the roads, which has been obstructing the movement of rescue vehicles.

Rescue operations received a boost on Wednesday with additional trained personnel joining the effort. By late Tuesday night, NDRF and defense teams had successfully evacuated over 500 people from isolated areas.
Four Relief Columns of the Defence Security Corps (DSC) Centre & 122 TA Battalion (MADRAS) began their operations at 6 a.m. They were divided into two composite teams for joint rescue and extrication of dead bodies and for assistance in setting up the Bailey Bridge at Churalmala.
Another two Columns, including a medical team of the 91 Infantry Battalion landed at Kozhikode late Tuesday night and reached the affected areas. The team is led by CO 23 Maratha Light Infantry.
