President Vladimir Putin presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Russia’s highest civilian decoration, the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle. The ceremony acknowledged Modi’s ‘outstanding’ contributions to the strategic alliance between Russia and India.
“I am honoured to receive the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle. “I dedicate it to the people of India,” PM Modi stated.

What is Russia’s highest civilian honour – Order of St. Andrew the Apostle?
• The Order of St. Andrew was established in 1698 by Tsar Peter the Great and is Russia’s highest order of chivalry. The symbol of respect and achievement has deep historical and cultural importance. The order’s emblem is a gold cross with blue enamel, depicting a crucified Saint Andrew the Apostle. It is ornamented with a double-headed eagle and a ribbon reading “FOR FAITH AND LOYALTY.”
• The order is given to prominent figures in government, the military, science, culture, and the economy for their outstanding contributions to Russia’s development, security, and sovereignty.
• According to a Russian government publication, foreign heads of state can also get this honour for “outstanding service” to the country. Following receipt of the decree, the Russian President’s Office ensures the construction of a portrait of the recipient. These portraits are on exhibit at Russia’s State Central Museum of Contemporary History to commemorate their achievements.

Modi brings up the Ukraine problem in discussions with Putin
Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought up the Ukraine conflict during his summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday. In an indirect allusion to the Ukraine war, he stated that the dispute cannot be addressed through military methods and that peace talks cannot proceed in the face of violence and combat.
In televised remarks from the Kremlin, Modi expressed great regret about the awful loss of innocent lives, especially children, in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
“Peace is critical for the future success of the next generation. A solution is not feasible on the battlefield.Peace negotiations do not succeed in the presence of bombs, guns, and bullets, he stated.
