Following Iran’s attacks in Israel, a US official engaged in discussions with counterparts in Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. During these conversations, Secretary Blinken emphasized the critical need to avoid further escalation in the region and stressed the importance of a coordinated diplomatic approach. Additionally, in talks with counterparts from Jordan and Egypt, Blinken underscored the necessity of achieving a lasting resolution to the crisis in Gaza. Spokesperson Miller provided insights into Secretary Blinken’s discussion with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, stating, “@SecBlinken spoke with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince @FaisalbinFarhan regarding the unprecedented air attack on military facilities in Israel last night, and to align efforts on a diplomatic response.”
“@SecBlinken and Jordanian Foreign Minister @AymanHsafadi discussed Iran’s unprecedented air attack on Israel and the importance of regional de-escalation,” he added.
Following Iran’s missile and drone attack, an extensive Israeli war cabinet meeting concluded on Sunday night without deciding on Israel’s response, as reported by CNN, citing an Israeli official. While the cabinet remains resolute in its intention to respond, the timing and extent of the response are yet to be determined. The military has been tasked with devising additional response options.
On Saturday night, Israel experienced its first direct attack from Iran, launching over 300 drones and missiles from its territory toward the Jewish state. This prompted air raid sirens across Israel on Sunday morning. However, Israel’s advanced air defense systems successfully intercepted and neutralized the incoming projectiles, as reported by the Times of Israel.
Noteworthy is the involvement of Iran and its proxies from Yemen, Syria, and Iraq, collectively launching more than 300 projectiles, including numerous ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones, in the attack on Israel on Saturday night.
