Bhopal: A 7-year-old girl fell prey to a brutal attack in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. The minor was sexually assaulted, axed, and fatally strangled before the predator buried her body and fled the scene. According to police officials, the accused, who is also a relative of the victim, murdered the girl due to her resistance.

The horrifying incident took place in the Junnardev police station area and was uncovered on Wednesday. The victim’s body was retrieved following the arrest of the suspect. Subsequently, the corpse was sent to the district hospital for an autopsy.

The accused, identified as Sonu Pandram, 19, a resident of Dhanakheda, had come to his aunt’s place in Junnardev two days ago. Sonu raped and murdered the girl when her mother went to the field to harvest sugarcane. Following this, he concealed her body in a pile of wood close to the house. After the girl’s family failed to get track of her, they filed a missing person complaint at the police station.

To cover his tracks, the accused then took the body to a crematorium at night and buried it.
The family and the police looked for the missing girl all night long. Sonu, the accused, continued to hide in the interim. His family began to have doubts about him, and the police kept a careful eye on him. Sonu eventually admitted to the crime and led the police to the site where the girl’s body was buried after first denying any participation during questioning.

The accused is facing charges of murder and rape under several different provisions. The family reportedly decided to send him away since he was not helping out around the house. He and a few friends used to work as laborers in Tamil Nadu. But he recently quit his work and went back to his family.
