AIMIM Leader Asaduddin Owaisi Challenges BJP: Respect for Lord Ram, Condemnation for Nathuram Godse

Owaisi further questioned the government’s intentions behind the resolution on the Ram Temple’s opening and the deity’s consecration on January 22.

During a fiery debate in the Lok Sabha regarding a resolution on the opening of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of AIMIM, launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Centre. Owaisi expressed his deep reverence for Lord Ram but vehemently condemned Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, whose last words were “Hey Ram.”

In his fervent address, Owaisi questioned the ruling BJP’s motives, demanding clarity on whether the government represents a specific community or religion, or if it truly serves the entire nation. He emphasized that a government should not be affiliated with any particular religion, asserting the secular values of the country.

Owaisi further questioned the government’s intentions behind the resolution on the Ram Temple’s opening and the deity’s consecration on January 22. He challenged whether these actions symbolized the triumph of one religion over another, raising concerns about the message conveyed to the Muslim population of India.

Criticizing the BJP for allegedly associating minority community leaders with historical Muslim rulers and invaders, Owaisi questioned whether he should be labeled as a spokesperson for figures like Babar, Jinnah, or Aurangzeb.

Meanwhile, in the Rajya Sabha, BJP national president JP Nadda described the ‘Pran Pratishtha Day’ as a momentous occasion signifying the revival of the nation’s spiritual and cultural identity. Nadda celebrated the day as a symbolic departure from centuries of subjugation and oppression, marking the dawn of a new era for India’s spiritual heritage.

In summary, the debates in both houses of Parliament underscored the deep-seated sentiments and differing perspectives surrounding the Ram Temple issue, reflecting the broader socio-political landscape of the country.
