“You think getting aid into Gaza is easy? Think again”, says the UN humanitarian chief

The UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees stated on Friday that an aid convoy was fired upon by the Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip, but no one was injured.

Tom White, UNRWA’s director in Gaza, tweeted, “Israeli soldiers fired at an aid convoy as it returned from northern Gaza along a route designated by the Israeli army — our international convoy leader and his team were not injured but one vehicle sustained damage”, through his official ‘X’ handle.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, according to UNRWA.

The Israeli military reacted to calls for comment by saying it was investigating the incident.

Earlier on Friday, Martin Griffiths, the UN humanitarian chief, made a post on ‘X’ detailing what he called an impossible situation for the people of Gaza, and for those attempting to help them.

Griffiths stated that assistance convoys had been shot at, without elaborating.

“You think getting aid into Gaza is easy? Think again”, he advised.
