After three Ukrainian drones were shot down over Moscow on Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that war was coming to Russia.
During a visit to the western city of Ivano-Frankivsk, Zelensky stated, “Gradually, the war is returning to the territory of Russia – to its symbolic centres and military bases, and this is an inevitable, natural, and absolutely fair process”.
“Ukraine is getting stronger”, Zelensky continued, cautioning that the country should brace itself for a new onslaught on energy infrastructure this winter.
“But we must be aware that, just like last year, Russian terrorists can still attack our energy sector and critical facilities this winter”, Zelensky said, adding that preparations for all possible scenarios were reviewed at Ivano-Frankivsk.
According to the Russian defence ministry, three Ukrainian drones were shot down above Moscow early Sunday. The attack destroyed two office skyscrapers and briefly brought an international airport to a halt.
Separately, Moscow said on Sunday that its forces had foiled a Ukrainian effort to use 25 drones to strike Russia-annexed Crimea overnight.
The attacks claimed on Sunday were the latest in a string of drone attacks blamed on Kyiv, including on the Kremlin and Russian cities close to the Ukrainian border.
