White House: Still A Chance To Prevent Government Shutdown

The White House indicated on Friday that avoiding a government shutdown was still feasible, but it was up to conservative Republican lawmakers to break the standoff.

“There is still a chance”, said Shalanda Young, director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), during a press conference.

“I’m still optimistic that we have a day and a half to work out, in one corner, what is needed to take the deal that Republicans in the House of Representatives have been offered by the Senate for a stopgap”, Shalanda Young continued.
