DeSantis Slides Behind Indian-American Candidates

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, once seen as a prominent rival to former President Trump, has experienced a decline in the polls. He has fallen behind two Indian-American candidates: entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley.

Ramaswamy and Haley Gain Ground

Vivek Ramaswamy has risen to second place with 13 percent support, closely followed by Nikki Haley at 12 percent, and former New Jersey governor Chris Christie at 11 percent. Ramaswamy’s popularity is on the rise, and Haley is catching up quickly.

DeSantis’ Decline Among Moderates

DeSantis’s decline in the polls is primarily attributed to a significant drop among moderates, decreasing from 26 percent support in July to just 6 percent currently. Among conservatives, his drop was smaller, at 8 points.

Ramaswamy’s Appeal to Non-Registered Republicans and Younger Voters

Vivek Ramaswamy’s increased support is concentrated among those who are not registered Republicans, with a 16-point increase since July, while holding relatively steady among registered Republicans. Additionally, his popularity has surged among younger likely voters, with a 28-point increase among those under 35 and an 11-point increase among those aged 35-49, while remaining stable among those aged 50 or above.

Haley’s Support Among Educated and Moderate Voters

Nikki Haley’s rise in the polls is more pronounced among voters with higher formal education levels, with an 11-point increase among those who have completed some postgraduate work and a 15-point increase among other college graduates. She has also gained 18 points among moderates while maintaining steady support among conservatives.

Trump Campaign’s Reaction

The Trump campaign has reacted positively to the poll results, noting that Ron DeSantis has fallen to fifth place in the Granite State. This shift in the polls reflects the evolving dynamics of the GOP race in New Hampshire.
