Downing Street
Several police officers were seen jogging behind UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s motorcade as he returned to Downing Street.
The fleet of automobiles carrying the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom was escorted up Whitehall towards Parliament. On a bike, some police officers were leading the convoy and shouted “Out of the way, please” to remove people from the road. The entire encounter was captured on film and shared on social media, where many condemned it as ‘over the top’.
A posse of police officers on pushbikes followed the convoy along the road. It contained four Range Rovers and a people carrier.
“Who’s there?” a bystander inquired. A police officer responded, “The Prime Minister”.
Is this really necessary? 😳

The entire parade irritated social media users, who called it a terrible waste of police manpower.
One user commented, “Not necessary at all. I can’t understand how this is a good use of the few police officers we have”.
Mr. Rishi Sunak’s official spokesperson was afterward questioned about the need for safety measures and whether it was related to Extinction Rebellion protests over the weekend.
“As you know on security issues, anything to do with policing is very much one for the Met Police”, the official responded.
The video was posted after the London Marathon shut down several roads in the UK capital.
Extinction Rebellion demonstrators recently congregated in Westminster, including Parliament Square, for a four-day demonstration.
Meanwhile, the Met police have not formally responded to the entire situation.
