The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Monday that on Saturday and Sunday, US forces assisted by U.S. European Command, destroyed over 80 one-way attack drones and at least six ballistic missiles launched towards Israel from Iran and Yemen.

CENTCOM tweeted, “This includes a ballistic missile on its launcher vehicle and seven UAVs destroyed on the ground prior to their launch in areas controlled by Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen”, through its official ‘X’ handle.

Iran launched drone and missile attacks on Israeli territory late Saturday in retaliation for a suspected Israeli strike on its embassy compound in Syria on April 1, 2024, killing top Revolutionary Guards commanders.

The attack by over 300 missiles and drones, most of which were launched from within Iran, caused only minor damage because the majority were shot down by Israel’s Iron Dome defense system, with assistance from the United States, Britain, France, and Jordan.

“CENTCOM remains postured to support Israel’s defense against these dangerous actions by Iran”, the US military noted.

“We will continue to work with all our regional partners to increase regional security”, the US military added.
