United Airlines temporarily paused flight departure on Tuesday owing to a systemwide technology issue before resolving the issue and removing the ground stop.
The US carrier stated that it was holding all planes at their departure airports, while airborne flights would proceed to their destination.
The Federal Aviation Administration issued notices citing an equipment outage as the reason for the ground-stop order.
However, around 1800 GMT, United Airlines announced that the ground stop order had been removed.
United Airlines tweeted, “We have identified a fix for the technology issue and flights have resumed. We’re working with impacted customers to help them reach their destinations as soon as possible”, through its official ‘X’ handle.
The Airlines had requested that all departures be halted nationally, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. At 1633 GMT, the initial announcement was made on the FAA’s website.
