Ukraine’s Technology Minister: Ukraine Is Manufacturing More Drones Than State Can Acquire

UAVs have been widely utilized by both Ukraine and Russia throughout the 22-month war

Ukraine’s technology minister stated Tuesday that Ukrainian manufacturers’ output of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) has increased to the point that Kyiv’s current drone procurement budgets are insufficient to buy everything being produced.

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Mykhailo Fedorov, a deputy prime minister who also oversees the digital brief, has advocated for the employment of drones to combat it.

“As of today, the market has accelerated much faster than the amount of money to buy all the UAVs”, Fedorov said.

“Therefore we need to increase financing and open up markets further so that prices fall thanks to competition and localization of part (production) begins”, Fedorov continued.

UAVs have been widely utilized by both Ukraine and Russia throughout the 22-month war, providing troops with constant eyes in the sky and allowing them to destroy targets worth hundreds of times the drone’s value, such as air defence systems and powerful radars.

Although sea and land-based devices are also being deployed, aerial vehicles are the most commonly used sort of drone.

According to the technology minister, there are already roughly 200 manufacturing companies in Ukraine, and approximately 70 local firms have signed contracts to deliver drones to the state.
