Turkish Man Discovers Series Of Tunnels In Basement Of His House

Turkish guy discovered an ancient subterranean city concealed beneath his basement, and a strange detail emerged. When a guy in 1963 chose to use a sledgehammer on a wall inside their cellar, he accidentally uncovered the buried city. He lived in the Nevsehir Province of Turkey and one day, while chasing his chicken, was led to a network of tunnels where he discovered a complete 2000-year-old city.

Civilization discovered with tunnels in basement

He soon understood that they were merely tunnels and that he had actually found an entire civilization. After some extensive digging, it was found that the city he had stumbled into was Drinkuyu, a Turkish underground city that likely had over 20,000 residents.

There is disagreement over the city’s founding dates. Some believe that it was founded by Hitler around 200 BC, while others believe that the Phrygians constructed it somewhere about 900 BC.  According to historians, this city served as a haven from attackers.
