Ericsson Launches Made-In-India Antenna For Global Markets

In a major boost to India’s telecom manufacturing sector, Ericsson has unveiled its first antenna model designed and manufactured in India.

This milestone marks the beginning of Ericsson’s domestic production and global exports from India, with international shipments scheduled to start in July.

Ericsson is rapidly scaling up its Indian operations, having established a state-of-the-art antenna manufacturing facility in April.

The company has set an ambitious target to localise 100% of its passive antenna production for the Indian market.

Building on its existing global manufacturing footprint in Mexico, Romania, and China, Ericsson is now developing comprehensive capabilities in India.

This includes local sourcing, production, and engineering.

It is said that on Monday that 50% of the antenna content is now produced locally.

The head of Ericsson Antenna System, Mikael Eriksson, said, “We are committed to building an end-to-end antenna ecosystem in India-one that includes local sourcing, production, and engineering.”

Adding more, he said, “This is a long-term investment in capability, talent, and technology.”

The company has already achieved a significant milestone as part of this strategy, now producing over 50% of its antenna content locally.

Now they would be able to meet the changing needs of the country.
