US President Donald Trump intensified his rhetoric on Tuesday, issuing a stark warning to Iran ahead of a critical deadline. He cautioned that Iran could face total devastation within hours if it fails to comply with US demands.
Speaking before the imposed deadline concerning the Strait of Hormuz, Trump declared that an entire civilisation could perish overnight.
He added that although he wished to avoid such an outcome, it remained a likely possibility.
The remarks formed part of a broader escalation tied to Washington’s ultimatum. Trump reiterated that he would not extend the 8:00 PM Eastern Time deadline.
He had earlier threatened to strike Iran’s energy grids and bridges in a single, unprecedented operation.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that decades of corruption and violence would end.
He asserted that a complete regime transformation had already taken place, led by more rational leadership. He described the moment as historically decisive.
The warnings emerged amid continuing US-Israeli military operations against Iran since February 28.
These actions have included strikes on both military and civilian infrastructure, alongside targeted killings of senior figures.
Washington aims to compel Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. This objective has shifted focus towards critical infrastructure, including transport networks and energy facilities.
Iran has responded with retaliatory measures, targeting US interests and restricting maritime passage.
In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched the 99th wave of Operation True Promise 4.
According to Tasnim News Agency, coordinated missile and drone strikes targeted US bases, command centres, and Israeli-linked assets across the Persian Gulf and beyond.
Iran reportedly struck major energy installations linked to firms such as ExxonMobil and Dow Chemical.
It also targeted maritime assets, including a vessel allegedly carrying military cargo. Iranian forces further claimed to have targeted a US aircraft carrier group identified as CVN-72.
The IRGC warned that continued escalation could disrupt global oil and gas supplies for years.
It stated that any attack on Iranian infrastructure would trigger broader retaliation.
The group also cautioned regional allies of the US that its earlier restraint no longer applies, signalling a possible expansion of the conflict.
