A plane operated by local carrier SAM Air crashed on Sunday in Gorontalo province, Sulawesi island, resulting in the deaths of four individuals on board, local media outlets have reported.
According to Heriyanto, the Head of the Gorontalo Search and Rescue Office, the PK SMH type aircraft lost contact with AirNav officials in Makassar shortly before the incident. The plane took off from Djalaluddin Gorontalo Airport at 7:30 a.m. en route to Bumi Panua Pohuwato Airport but reportedly crashed in the vicinity of its destination.

The victims include a pilot, a copilot, an engineer, and a passenger, all of whom were found deceased at the crash site.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, as authorities work to determine what led to this tragic accident, according to the Xinhua news agency.
