In a harrowing series of events on Tuesday, at least 40 Palestinians lost their lives due to Israeli military actions in the Gaza Strip, as reported by the Hamas-controlled media office.
The first incident occurred at the Al-Razi School, which is affiliated with the United Nations and located in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
This attack resulted in the deaths of 23 Palestinians and left 73 others injured.
Local sources and eyewitnesses, cited by Xinhua news agency, indicated that the Israeli airstrike struck without prior warning, leading to the partial destruction of the school.
In a separate assault, 17 Palestinians lost their lives and 26 injured in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, situated in the southern part of Gaza.
Security sources revealed that the location housed hundreds of displaced families living in tents.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) justified these actions by stating that the Israeli Air Force (IAF) targeted terrorists operating within the UNRWA school in Nuseirat based on precise intelligence.
Additionally, the IAF claimed responsibility for striking a company commander from the Islamic Jihad’s Naval Unit in western Khan Younis.
These attacks are part of Israel’s ongoing large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, this military campaign is a response to a Hamas incursion across the southern Israeli border on 7 October 2023, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people and the taking of over 200 hostages.
The escalation in violence has intensified the already dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, raising urgent calls for international intervention and peace efforts.
