Torrential Rains Cause Bridge Collapses In China, Killing 11 People

A bridge in northern China collapsed due to torrential rains, killing eleven people. The bridge was partially submerged, with the river rushing over it.

The bridge in Shaanxi province’s Shangluo collapsed around 8:40 pm (1240 GMT) on Friday.

Rescue operations are underway, with five vehicles so far recovered from the water.

Since Tuesday, large portions of northern and central China have been hit by heavy rains causing flooding and significant damage.

On Friday, state media reported at least five dead and eight missing after the rains sparked flooding and mudslides in Shaanxi’s Baoji city.
