Taiwan Detects Large Chinese Military Presence Near Its Borders

On Thursday, Taiwan detected 38 Chinese military aircraft, 7 naval vessels, and 4 CCG vessels operating around the nation. It was between 6 am on Wednesday to 6 am on Thursday.

According to the Taiwan Ministry of National Defence, 28 aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait.

The aircraft also entered Taiwan’s northern and southwestern Air Defence Identification Zone.

The Armed Forces have monitored the situation and responded accordingly.

The forces have employed CAP aircraft, Navy vessels, and coastal missile systems in response to the detected activities.

Taking to X, the Taiwan Ministry of National Defence said, “38 PLA aircraft, 7 PLAN vessels, and 4 CCG vessels operating around Taiwan were detected up until 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today. 28 of the aircraft crossed the median line and entered our northern and southwestern ADIZ. We have monitored the situation and responded accordingly.”

Earlier on Thursday, Taiwan tracked 13 Chinese military aircraft, 5 naval vessels, and 4 CCG vessels operating around the nation. It was between 6 am on Tuesday to 6 am on Wednesday.

According to the Taiwan Ministry of National Defence, 3 aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait.

The aircraft also entered Taiwan’s southwestern Air Defence Identification Zone.

The Armed Forces have monitored the situation and responded accordingly.

The forces have employed CAP aircraft, Navy vessels, and coastal missile systems in response to the detected activities.

Taking to X, the Taiwan Ministry of National Defence said, “13 #PLA aircraft, 5 PLAN vessels, and 4 CCG vessels operating around #Taiwan were detected up until 6 a.m. today. 3 of the aircraft crossed the median line of #Taiwan Strait entered Taiwan’s SW and SE ADIZ. #ROCArmedForces have monitored the situation and responded accordingly.”

Since September 2020, China has increased its use of gray zone tactics. This includes incrementally increasing the number of military aircraft and naval ships operating around Taiwan.
