Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Geneva on Tuesday while travelling to Evian, France, to participate in the upcoming G7 Summit.
In a special diplomatic gesture, Swiss President Guy Parmelin personally received him at the airport.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, both leaders exchanged cordial greetings and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the India-Switzerland partnership.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared the update on the social media platform, highlighting the positive engagement between the two leaders.
During the summit, PM Modi will participate in discussions with G7 leaders, partner nations and international organisations.
The deliberations will focus on new global partnerships, international cooperation, balanced economic growth and the safe deployment of Artificial Intelligence.
The Prime Minister will also hold several bilateral meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the summit to deepen diplomatic and economic cooperation.
Following his engagements in Evian, PM Modi will travel to Paris for bilateral discussions and participation in the VivaTech Summit, Europe’s largest technology and startup gathering.
The Prime Minister is also expected to interact with members of the Indian diaspora in the French capital.
PM Modi reached Geneva after completing a two-day State Visit to Slovakia.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico personally saw him off before his departure, reflecting the warmth of bilateral relations.
PM Modi described the visit as historic and productive in a post on X. He said its outcomes would further strengthen India-Slovakia ties and expand trade opportunities for future generations.
During the visit, Prime Minister Modi met Slovak President Peter Pellegrini. The two leaders discussed cooperation in manufacturing, transport, innovation, investment, energy, biofuels and digital technology.
Slovakia awarded PM Modi its highest civilian honour, the Order of the White Double Cross (1st Class). It marked his 33rd international honour from a foreign nation.
