An all-party delegation led by Supriya Sule met with League of Arab States Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Tuesday, emphasising India’s unified stance and collective resolve to combat terrorism.
During the meeting, both sides stressed that fighting terrorism remains a top priority for the Arab League and India alike.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to joint efforts aimed at dismantling terror networks and ensuring regional and global security.
Broadening India-Arab Relations
Beyond security, the delegation and the Secretary-General discussed India’s extensive political, economic, and cultural ties with the Arab States.
This dialogue highlighted India’s expanding engagement across multiple sectors within the region.
The League of Arab States, headquartered in Cairo, Egypt, is an intergovernmental organisation established on 22 March 1945 following the Alexandria Protocol of 1944.
It unites 22 member countries across the Middle East and North Africa, including Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and others.
Engagement With Indian Community In Egypt
The delegation also connected with the vibrant Indian community in Egypt, who warmly welcomed their visit and endorsed their strong anti-terrorism message, according to the Indian Embassy in Cairo.

On Monday, Indian Ambassador to Egypt Suresh Reddy briefed the delegation on the robust India-Egypt Strategic Partnership, Egypt’s firm stance against terrorism, and its solidarity with India following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
The briefing also covered ongoing close cooperation on counter-terrorism efforts.
Parliamentary Engagements In Egypt
The delegation held fruitful discussions at the Egyptian Senate House with Senator Hossam Al-Khouly of the Mostaqbal Watan Party, MP Hazem Omar, and members of various parliamentary committees.
The Senate reaffirmed its solidarity with India and highlighted the importance of the close strategic partnership between the two nations.
Following this, the group engaged with Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman MP Karim Darwish and other prominent members of the Egyptian House of Representatives, fostering deeper parliamentary ties.
Dialogue With Thought Leaders And Former Ministers
The Indian parliamentarians met with former ministers, renowned authors, and thought leaders in Egypt.
These discussions enhanced mutual understanding of India’s dedication to economic growth, inclusive development, and zero tolerance for terrorism.
The delegation paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Al-Horreya Park in Zamalek, Cairo, honouring his legacy and the enduring India-Egypt friendship.
Part Of India’s Strategic Diplomatic Outreach
This visit forms part of India’s broader diplomatic outreach under Operation Sindoor, which conveys India’s firm message against terrorism.
The delegation arrived in Egypt after successful visits to Ethiopia, South Africa, and Qatar, continuing India’s efforts to garner international support against cross-border terrorism originating from Pakistan.
