Sheynnis Palacios
Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua was crowned Miss Universe 2023 on Saturday at the 72nd edition of the contest, which was held this year in El Salvador.
Palacios, 23, received the crown and sash from R’Bonney Gabriel of the United States.
Nicaragua has won the competition for the first time, with Thailand’s Anntonia Porsild and Australia’s Moraya Wilson making out the top three.
Sheynnis Palacios, who stated her key values are humility and gratitude for small things, won out of 84 participants who competed in swimsuits, evening gowns, and traditional clothes over the course of a week.
In her closing statement to the jury, Palacios emphasized the need for equal compensation for equal work so that women can work in any area.
“There is no limit for women”, she declared.
Each participant marched on a stage build-up in San Salvador’s freshly remodeled Adolfo Pineda National Gymnasium.
The gala’s organizers also revealed that the next edition will be hosted in Mexico, which was attended by El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele.
