On Tuesday, the Russian air defences shot down two drones in the Moscow region; no one was injured.

According to emergency services, two drones were suppressed by means of electronic warfare in the New Moscow area.

A third drone was shot down some 190 kilometres (110 miles) from the capital in the Kaluga region.

According to preliminary reports, the three drones were flying towards Moscow.

According to an unidentified source, all three drones were fixed-wing, and there had been no casualties.

RIA Novosti also reported that two drones had been shot down near the town of Valuevo in New Moscow.

It added the drones had crashed into an open field and that no casualties had been reported.

The reports did not specify where the drones came from.

Drone strikes on Russian cities have occurred throughout Moscow’s offensive in Ukraine, but have increased in recent months.

Moscow and its surrounds, which are about 500 km from the Ukrainian border, have been rarely attacked in the past.

Two drones were shot down above the Kremlin in early May, and later that month, drones struck Moscow high-rises.
