After the commander of the mercenary group, Wagner stated his soldiers had crossed the border from Ukraine, Russian officials said Saturday that security measures had been reinforced in several regions.
Yevgeny Prigozhin promised to go to the end to depose Russia’s military leadership, accusing them of starting attacks on his troops, while the country’s prosecutor general announced he was being investigated for armed rebellion.
The governor of the Lipetsk region south of Moscow, Igor Artamonov said, “A decision has been taken to reinforce security measures in the region”.
“I ask everyone to remain calm”, Artamonov added.
Lipetsk is located about 400 kilometres (250 miles) south of Moscow.

Officials in Rostov’s southern region have encouraged residents to stay at home.
While advising the resident to stay at home, Rostov governor Vasily Golubev said, “Law enforcement agencies are doing everything necessary to ensure the safety of residents. I ask everyone to remain calm”.
Earlier, the state news agency TASS claimed that Moscow authorities had tightened security measures, and local media broadcast amateur video showing armoured vehicles deploying throughout the capital, including near the defence ministry.
Earlier, Yevgeny Prigozhin stated his units, which led an assault in eastern Ukraine, had infiltrated Rostov’s southern region.
